haiti: last update

Posted by slykwyk on January 30, 2010

Ok, I was out of town all last week so I wasn’t privy to much of what was happening with the Fairfax USAR team.  But for those wondering…

My brother-in-law made it back to town yesterday.  We spent much of today with him.  It was good to see him again.  Of course we asked him about his experiences.  Basically it was what you would expect: lots of rubble, lots of dead bodies, oppressive heat, unsanitary conditions.  That being said, the one thing he kept telling us today was that he really had nothing in life to ever complain about again (which he doesn’t do anyway).  He said it’s a privilege to live in America.  Seems like we always need those reminders.

In the end, his team rescued 6 of the 16 rescued by the Fairfax team.  And his whole team came back in good spirits and healthy.

Thanks guys and ladies for your work!

PS – he appreciated the emails some of you sent.  Thanks!
