small things

Posted by slykwyk on September 21, 2009

I have this theory that the small things we do say more about character than anything else.

I’m talking actions like holding a door open for someone, grabbing something off a shelf to help out, cleaning up a spill, moving that blasted cart from the parking lot because some lazy (fill in the blank) won’t take the time to do it.  I really believe how you treat people in the small ways says more about you than the BIG actions we may take.

Why?  The BIG stuff we do we sometimes do for accolades, recognition, praise.  It happens once a month, a year, a lifetime.  The small stuff gets no glory, gets no kudos, doesn’t get your name in the paper.  Being someone who does the small stuff is part of our DNA, its who we are, and its something we readily share with others every single day.

So what small stuff can you do consistently to make this world a better place?
